Harvest Festival, 12 noon - 1 p.m.
• Games Craft, Costume Contest (please refrain from scary or violent costumes). Led by our Senior High Youth under the direction of Gary Groux, assisted by Suzanne Groux and Marcia Hale.
• Lunch for all participants and parents. Presbyterian Men will provide hot dogs, drinks and dessert. All participating families are asked to bring a side dish for sharing.
• Hope you will join us for this fun event!

Operation Christmas Child
Our children and youth Sunday School classes are collecting items to fill shoeboxes with gifts for needy children around the world. Often these are the only gifts that the children will receive. A collection box will be outside Marcia Hale's office for donated items. Our 5th-8th grade youth will fill the boxes at the youth meeting in November.

The 216th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) will meet in Richmond, Virginia this year. Sessions of the Presbytery of the James and adjacent Presbyteries are encouraging their members to join with thousands of other Presbyterians to worship together on Sunday, June 27, at the Richmond Coliseum. The last national church Assembly Worship in Richmond was in 1847. Second Church is taking a bus trip over for this event. Please sign-up in the church office if you would like to attend.

Announcing: A Training Event for Leaders in Local Congregations

"Equipping the Saints" is the leadership event; "Heirs to the Promise" is the theme. Through involvement in this event, participants will have an opportunity to become better equipped to serve within their respective congregations in various areas of ministry. Two identical events will be held: Saturday, March 6th at the Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church (11121 Leavells Road) in Fredericksburg, from 10:00 am – 2:30 pm, and again on Sunday, March 7th at the Second Presbyterian Church (419 W. Washington Street) in Petersburg, from 2:00pm – 6:40 pm. Interested persons are asked to register for one or the other. The cost is $15 before Feb. 20th, $20 thereafter. A light meal will be served at both events. Workshop offerings include: Heirs to the Promise; Baptism: Splashed into the Promise; Church Conflict: Opportunities for Spiritual Growth and Change; How to Spend our Inheritance; A Ministry for Men and Women in the Church; Spiritual Nurture in the Home; Addressing Biblical Illiteracy; The Church in Missions; What Do We Mean by 'Family'? Our pastor is leading one of the workshops.

Chili Lunch & Christmas Caroling on December 14th

On December 14th after the church service, the Education Committee will host a light luncheon of chili and soup to warm up our singing voices so that we can go Christmas Caroling to several of our shut-ins and to help us get into the true Christmas spirit. We look forward to seeing many of you.

Senior High Youth Planning a Harvest Festival for October 26th

The Senior High Youth would like to announce that they are planning a Harvest Festival for Sunday, October 26 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in McLlwaine Hall for all the children in our church. All youth in grades 9-12 will meet from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. on Sundays October 12 and 19 in their Sunday School classroom to make plans for this event. Gary Groux is the Senior High Youth Leader. Be sure to put this event on your calendars!
